One Week Away - What to Bring and How to Prepare

We're just one week away from the start of the Lexington Debate Institute! I hope you're as excited as we are to begin! Here are a few reminders of what you need to bring to camp and how you should prepare:

1. Lunch

Due to numerous allergies within the program, we are asking students to bring in their own lunches and avoid tree nuts, as well as sesame if possible. Thank you all for your understanding!

2. Drop-Off and Pickup

We are excited to announce we will be hosted by Lexington High School, with classrooms reserved in the Science Building. Below is a map of the High School, with the Science Building marked by our logo. We will be using first floor classrooms. Please drop off and pick up students on the Muzzey Street side (indicated on the map below). If there are any questions about how to arrive at the Muzzey Street entrance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at our email lexdebateinstitute@gmail.com or phone number 857-302-0240.

3. First Day Registration

Please arrive in between 8:30am and 8:45am on July 31. Parking is available where indicated on the map below. We ask that a parent/guardian check in every student on the first day, where we will confirm forms have been turned in and finances are balanced. All forms must be turned in before a student can participate in the Institute. We will give each parent/guardian a piece of paper to place in your windshield during pickup. If a different adult is picking up your child, we ask that you please contact us beforehand so we make sure your child gets home safely.

4. What to Bring

If your child has access to a laptop, please have them bring it with them to camp. We will have laptops we can provide if need be. We will be operating off of Google Docs, so students using our laptops will still be able to access information at home if they want to review information or research (though homework is discouraged - we want people to be able to leave camp at 4pm and relax)! We will provide paper and pens for students, though if they have their own personal favorite writing implement, they are welcome to bring it in. We will also have fans in the rooms to help manage the temperature.

Do you have any questions? Information you want to share with us before camp begins? Email us at lexdebateinstitute@gmail.com, and we'll respond as soon as possible!

Looking forward to the start of camp - we can't wait to meet and get to know all the students better!
