SUMMER - TWO WEek session
Join LDI for our 2023 Summer Institute on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. or from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learn from successful high school alumni and college debaters about the intricacies of high-level debate, such as strategic argumentation, persuasive rhetoric, philosophy, and more. Receive interactive lectures alongside in-depth and thoughtful discussions, with immersive activities to apply new concepts and reinforce comprehension. Incorporate core debate skills into a speech, and participate in practice debate exercises. Engage in guided research on a politically significant topic and discussions on applied philosophical ethics. Finish with a final camp-wide tournament and debate against and alongside fellow students.
Classes will be held in-person at Lexington High School in accordance to COVID guidelines. The most comprehensive of the programs, this session is open to students who are just beginning debate as well as experienced students who want to advance their skills.

If you are unavailable for the full two-week session, we offer abridged one-week sessions! Join LDI for our 2023 Summer Institute on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. or from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learn from successful high school alumni and college debaters about the intricacies of high-level debate, such as strategic argumentation, research, persuasive rhetoric, philosophy, and more.
All sessions include interactive lectures alongside in-depth and thoughtful discussions, with immersive activities to apply new concepts and reinforce comprehension. The Beginner-Intermediate sessions are open to debaters of all experience levels to either start their debate career or improve upon their current skillset. Finish the session with full-length debates.

The Advanced sessions emphasize research, case writing, and high-level practice debates. Finish with a final camp-wide tournament and debate against and alongside fellow students. We recommend the Advanced sessions only for debaters who have completed at least two summer, fall, or spring sessions of LDI. Students with prior experience are also encouraged to attend the Beginner-Intermediate sessions to strengthen core skills of rhetorical strategy and persuasion.

Receive interactive lectures alongside in-depth and thoughtful post-lecture discussions, with interactive and immersive activities to reinforce comprehension. Piece together the core three skills into a speech, and engage in practice debate exercises. Engage in guided research on a politically significant topic and discussions on applied philosophical ethics. Finish with exciting and inclusive practice debates.

Finish with an exciting and inclusive debate tournament, with fourteen full-length debates.

Information Session
Spend an evening learning more about the Lexington Debate Institute. Hear our philosophy for educating your child in person, with significant time reserved for
a Question & Answer session. Decide whether or not the Institute is right for
your child. Both children and parents are welcome!

Our Referral Policy
If you refer a friend to the program, send us an email with their name and we'll give you a $25 discount once they register. Refer another friend for an additional $25 off!

Our Family Policy
After the first child signed up, we will offer 10% off registration for every additional child signed up for the Institute. In total, this comes to 5% off for two children, 7% off for three children, and 8% off for four children.

Financial Aid
Though proceeds from the program go directly to support the high school's debate team, we want to make sure that every student can afford to attend. If your child qualifies for free/reduced lunch, please email us with documentation to discuss our reduced registration cost.
